And so in an old Tuffle ship which has be left to wither in time. The hands of a girl are busy making sparks. The small ship had many parts and panels missing, wires that draped some live and some dormant she added her own adaptions to make it relatively bright which involved some earth made laps and string lights from old Christmas pasts and.
Her dads old scouter beeped with its display flashing stats, she had inherited it from him. She looked up and viewed the information being given. Spikes in energy readings from not so distant places. She tapped it to clear the alerts she saw these powers around her and really that was what got her thinking about making her suit officially.
Dad told her about Tuffle suits and even showed her his from when he was a proud Tuffle soldier. From time to time she begged to see it and even get inside it just to see what it was like and the reaction it had. However that ended when she got old enough to realize the suit alone would bring an anxious expression behind his eye.
She could not imagine why. Still she would begin a multi year plan which was finally nearing its full manifestation. As she shoved an arm length of plating to the side she began to work on a helmet. Amongst the pile spread on her work bench were a full body in various pieces.
She had some old Japanese Sentai show in the background next to a pile of various similar aged others along that theme. She worked at an import video store for a few summers before the owner sold the building after retiring. Kiwi was given much of the inventory. It was playing as she was making digital copies.
The big idea will be to upload them on a streaming site to play for others like a kind of channel she domains.
Now here is the deal she has learned quite a bit from having these films around and has considered adapting the idea.
She sits back at taps the dome of her helmet and it condenses itself into a small ball. She stands up and begins to tap the others and they shrink into various vehicles and mobile devices she taps her scouter and each device beeps one by one as a connection is established and links are formed. The status and confirmations are displaying across her eyes until they are all online, live, and fully functional. She had some work to do still but the connections are complete and the readings are within expectations.
None of the mobiles are even… well mobile.
Not yet at least.
Essentially she just hooked them all up with Bluetooth connections. Which was a start to help her view their stats and functionality.
In the background she was hearing the familiar sequence of the sentai warriors mecha forming the unified monster fighting mecha. That was going to be her Tuffle style. And she grinned excitedly ready for world dominance.

“Domescape prototype twenty-three in session. With twenty two previous iterations failing to compute with the processing times required for live data along with visual and sound alterations.” She breathed in her helmet. “End record rewind and play back.”
There was some hum in the back of her helm while the cooling system and the system whirled to life. It took a good thirty seconds which felt like Dial up speeds and she already could tell the issue wasn’t solved.
Her voice played back Severely loud and she popped it off while she shouted the volume down command.
Already off to a great start she commanded a diagnostic from the system and she was right the processing time was not where she wanted to be. The sound was great and the video quality for her 360 view was gentle. The scouter to helm connection was stellar. So some progress was made. It was just the transition of information from these medias to the collection banks. Being able to receive and put out the information was just as important as the former.
She called a command and from under a pair of slots a set of speakers made themselves known and she hooked up her phone to play music from them. It controlled the sound inside and loudly played on the outside. Both were different volumes but she noted the outside speakers were putting a strain on her cameras making the whole helm vibrate with the base.
That needed to be remedied maybe taken out altogether. So she just connected the sound to a speaker built into her backpack which held the power supply and the bulkier parts which she hope to integrate to her chest piece when it was ready for further development.
Now for the fun part.
“Load up Beat Box.” And in her display figure came up with preset of cookie cutter outlines that took the shape of enemies of different sizes. And they would begin firing massive pixels at her and she would rack up points and be taken away those points any time she deflected these moves and was hit by them.
“Count down, 5 seconds.” Her screen would begin and her music synced with the game, hence it was called beat box.
The reaction time of her movies was going to be recorded on her video recognition and that should give her a good idea to how much data her game processed in real time.
The Go! Signal flashed on her screen and the figures started firing their pixels. And already she could tell her timing between her moves and the game registering them was off. The five minute timer was counting down and she was going to keep the pace.
She was in the middle of the park achieving these moves. Her father would teach her some of the core skills from his time in the military. Just for self defense. Frankly he didn’t want her to go off and be fighting the universe. He just wanted some peaceful job for her.
While she didn’t mind that plan she felt something against it. No better phrased… she had some feeling she’d need it.
She had been told of many divisions and motivations which could endanger the peace she had known. She knew he would go back and serve the Tuffle military to keep us safe she knew how much it pained him, he was older and his battle wounds ached him from time to time. Sending him to battle would both mentally and physically break him.
She would rather take his place if the time came. If the choice had to be made if it kept Earth safe for her family to be at peace. She was ok with that.
The percentage of hits to misses when three minutes had passed was roughly dipping below 70% which wasn’t a bad percentage if you were trying to pass an algebra test. But at an average thousand shots per minute created near to a thousand times she was blasted. And in the last two minutes that rate went up and the average percentage went down nearing 68% records. Worse off, the hum and the heat generated by the helm was reaching uncomfortable levels. And she powered it down, unhooked it from her neck and her dads scouter disconnected itself for her to take it off.
She did not have enough power or processing. She would be calculating the numbers in her head based on what her data could record, currently the common human market and her outdated Tuffle tech was lacking. She’ll have to shell out a crazy amount of cash or make the thing from scratch. Totally within the realm of possibility with the right materials or combination of.

Sparks were settling on her new framework. When she started texting on her phone. She grew a grin and became rather giddy.
After maybe an hour after the texting she was at the park and waving down a rather handsome boy who lifted a hand from his pullover to show her a more casual wave. He was a bulky sort and carried a duffel bag. She saw his face drop as she was reaching into her backpack and pulling out a pair of gloves with unpolished framed arm guards.
“Kiwi…” he sighed. “You know when you called me to the park for frozen yogurt I actually thought you were wanting to hang out and not… this… again. I was out for two weeks from practice from the last contraption you let me slip my hand into. Lucky I made a full recovery or Dad was going to sue.”
“We’ll get froyo after this. And totally hang out like as payment for helping me out. Come on you have Ki and it would be super cool if I can find out if it can transfer into my system.” She gave him a pouty lip.
He sighed and held out his hands. They had been dating for maybe two months and were barely used to each other but they have the same athletic time block. He can use Ki and is training for a few major tournaments when they come around again. He would talk about how he watched the last one which was destroyed by an accident on its host planet. He hoped to match that height of fame. Kiwi knew something about it but after that incident she hardly looked into it other than what involved surviving civilians and a couple of other things.
“This time I made a quick release mechanism. Just touch your index and thumbs together and the gloves will fall right off. Also I made other safety changes like if there is a malfunction, it gets too hot, it locks up, it fails to register, and so on. If any of that triggers the sensors then they’ll release a fire retardant and fall right off releasing you.” She nodded seeing him relax a bit more making her smile.
She tapped the side of her scouter with a light finger and set to record the scene and the data readings he would give off. He was sitting at a decent power level compared to others it was nearing the thousand point ranges.
“Ok so just… use your Ki and the gloves should keep up with the output of energy. It should enhance your Ki energy back into you in a cycling manner up and down your arms.” She gave him the signal to go with her hands and hers pressed in a prayer and touched the tip of her nose and lips. Hoping it was going to be ok.
Her boyfriend ignited his Ki and his muscles pumped and veins bulged in this base form of power already his Power levels spiked marginally.
“How does it feel?” She would ask.
He exhaled she could see the power readings began to pulse the power he was exhausting and see the gloves channel it back into his arms to travel down his fists again and back into the gloves once more.
He balled his fists and began boxing. The air was being pounded with his energy and she felt the whoosh of it with every pulse.
Until they would release and clang to the ground suddenly.
They both paused and looked a bit stunned. His arms were fine which was clear to see after he powered down.
She got close and checked the sensors of which were tripped when The flame retardant busted out in a cloud and both yelped in shock.
“Oh… you over heated them.” She deduced with a sly grin.
His pride swelled and yet he was sheepishly shrugging for her.
She fanned the dust from the retardant and picked up the gloves. “The retardant popped off late too… but that was a good test. Maybe that method of cycling Ki will have to have more preventions than what would be preferred to keep a functioning form.”
She shoved them back into her bag and grabbed his arm which was still warm from the power he had and guided him to their favorite Froyo place.
However her next test would be the end of that relationship when the poor guy lost some hair.

She came across some cartoons which had some cute robot designs and nutty dialogue but was damn near inspired.
She spent all night and took the main working components from her chest piece and began to frame a new set of frames from the scraps. She worked on the mechanisms to make each part posable to maximize movement and control for the droid. She noted to write down the measures as she made them. There was no schematic and no prior planning for most of this process that was where Kiwi was different from her father. She had trouble just drawing out the blueprints when she was excited so the blue prints were made after and all the parts and mechanisms were documented as she pieces them together.
Days had passed and soon a pair of eyes lit up and the hum of power was raising a centaur-esque skeletal metal frame. It chirped in recognition and waited for its next command. She pressed on the keyboard which asked it to condense. And to condense it had to fit all its frame work into a chest piece.
The whirls and clicks sequenced the set of pieces and began to move into their places in the order they needed to be.
The eight power cycles she created in a current testing phase with four in the chest and four in the back would act as the main power generators for all of the suit. She can use this to also power a resuscitate system in case she ever passes out or drops in her vitals. The chest and the main power circulating through it will hope to act as a first response medic hun which is another reason why it has to be so big and powerful. It will keep track of all her physical levels and vitals instantly.
She was developing a systems of fiber straps which will close and cover major wounds apply pressure and tourniquet the blood flow in This piece too. Not only would they piece together the extra parts of the limbs, they should see that if she be penetrated the Ai knows and is triggered to act. That all needed to be worked out later however.
Until then the skeleton had indeed transformed smoothly with all the pieces syncing in a smooth torso shape. She was satisfied with it and reversed the process back to the centaur bodied form that was going to help it be mobile and independently accessible.
The others she looked at which were modeled after vehicles just the same she began to imaging a whole range of doll-like shaped droids which would have a futuristic and cute appearance. She felt that was absolutely her Tuffman way.

She felt she needed to work on a better way to enhance her performance. She began to program the nano-fibers into more length and generated a simple power system that would pulse and act as the full nervous system beneath her suit. To be honest she can wear this and her abilities should be enhanced well enough.
She placed on her helmet which would connect to her scouter. With a simple plug in feet among feet of Nano-fiber would drape like thick hair which pooled around her ankles and came over her shoulders. It was heavy for the moment. But it was a good prototype still. She’ll maybe half the fibers width and compact them in a retractable fashion.
The majority of the helmets functions are turned off for the moment to safely run this test.
She slipped in a data collection drive to the side of her head in a compartment for multiple ports for human and Tuffle tech. This data drive will store all her recordings and results externally for her to evaluate on her computer later.
She would call out the command to record and begin her test.
“Domescape recording session thirty-four: Tuffman’s journey to her new suit like her ancestors before her.” She for creative with her log entries when she was excited.
She called out the date and the time before continuing. “Session marks the fifth attempt to test the nano-fiber technology for the underlying structure and sensory processing for our Tuffman suit. Test will include reaction time of assembly, progress in physical reactivity, sensitivity of response, memory of form, and mobility of the wearer.”
“Test commence… Suit!” She exhaled they verbal command and the nano fibers reacted immediately.
The pulsed and wiggled to life sensing her vital connections through her helm and the command tore through them from the start to the tips as they began to wrap around her body. They synced signals and formed sheets of protective layers and compressed over her weaving over and around like a second skin. It began to tighten starting with her chest and then around her shoulders and hips to down her limbs and up her neck climbing into her helm and around her head.
It snapped tight as it settled into place which made her panic a sec as it tightened a bit too tight and her hands went to her neck in a second before realizing it was loosening as it memorized her body. As it finished it worked more power into its coils and it sent waves of pulses through her body. This made her breath catch as even her mind was coming into the pulses.
They were kind of a frequency which would radiate a signal to her body in a continuous state of hyperactivity. This would make her body act like it was on a level of adrenaline rush that would make it forget its limitations. It was backed by the vital sensory processing which would prevent her body from over extending itself and keep her from harming herself.
The sensation was intense and her breathing and heart rate spiked until that kicked into action. When she was regulated and safe from a true blue absolute heart attack she took some calming breaths in her helmet which adjusts the airflow automatically to prevent fogging and stale air. The respirators were set and working perfectly.
She heard every noise in the house and could point out where in the walls the raccoon that was terrorizing their pipes was. She heard Mom talking to Dad over the phone about what he wanted for dinner. The cars on the street driving and honking with loud music and engines misfiring. She took the thought to walk to the door but it came up faster than it should have as her speed brought it bro her face in an instant. She processed this in faster time mentally and physically. She gripped the handle of the door and it broke in her efforts to turn it. She dropped it shocked it happened so easily. Instead of the door she had an open window and made the choice to run and jump through it and out of the three story house. She was launched way across the yard and into the fore mentioned street where a medley of honks and screams of brakes were heard. She was hit by one and it sent her into the ditch where she was smacking her hind in ankle deep water. Yet she felt no pain as the nano fiber absorbed the shock and she was not wet as the seal was tight.
She was being gawked at and cursed at by the ones who would drive away or even climb out to make sure she was fine. She went to the one that bumped into her and there was not but a medley of scratches and a hip sized dent on the car.
And her Dad was pulling to the side to come over and hand over his insurance information to be exchanged.
He looked at her with a knowing and worrisome expression. He pulled her to the side and inspected her work.
“Instead of straight thread cording maybe let the fibers spiderweb into each other so you can cover more skin and used less material. I would suggest a hexagonal spread to optimize your surface area.” He nodded at her and pulled on her arm making her resist him. “Sturdy and you have good reaction time. Nice work, it’s a solid start. You can help me with the groceries… all of them and if you break the eggs I’ll ground you from working on this suit for a year.”
He could see. Her expression through her helm but she nodded quickly in agreement.

She went a step further in the making of her suit fibers and they would not be fibers in the traditional sense they would practically be small thread-like cells. She worked on a small patch at first to refine her final draft. Each “fiber” was made of flexible and conducive materials woven to take a signal at instantaneous levels and react accordingly to every connection between them. She made up the first one and placed it a kind of copy machine which would be programmed with the limbs to create a hundred thousand or so to make the fabric sample. She had to create another machine which would connect each singular cell to creat the fabric.
Next she clipped it into the power supply and breathed calm breathes before setting her scouter to read and zoom to see the details before she flipped the switch on the power supply.
In a near instant and I’m talking Nanoseconds worth of time according her scouter the fabric expanded four times it’s size she practically has a pillow case.
She got chills. Full in adulterated shuddering excitement that made her stand on her feet from her seat. She might have nearly jumped out of her socks. But she held off celebrating and permitted the copy machine to produce the whole fabric and over the course of the next two weeks it had spat out cell after cell. And as the cells were spat out she would feed them through the syncing machine and come out with a single strap of fabric. That single strap can be cut and customized for her measurements.
By the way her old test fibers she sold the make of them to an electric company they are going to introduce the new power lines with he stuff for faster speeds and stronger against weather conditions. Everything was patented and copy written. Full lawyer and a contracted. She would have some real comfortable money coming in and a lot of things can be worked on around here. Maybe she could even get the ship back up and running.
She was lost in momentum when she was yanked from her table by her mother. The scouter on her head was yanked off and a bucket of icy water was dunked on her head by her father.
She screamed, yelped, and cried. And when she jumped from her seat and was in the state of figuring out what was going on she looked between her two parents stammering for words.
“Kiwi…” her mother started.
Her mother was dark skinned which was where kiwi got her looks from. Mother was half nationalities from her grandparents military tours grandfather met a foreign woman and they fell in love and all that ancient history. Dad was all Tuffle and yet she was sure the water idea was her mothers. And their shared hard cloudy curls did not do well when wet and Kiwi focused on trying to grab a towel to wipe it off before it set in too deep.
“Now you’re an adult and I understand that but You know you been up here for almost a month right?” Her mother continued.
A chill ran down her body as the water trickled down her back. “I’m… so close.”
“Ki.” Her father joined in. “I of all people understand but you have to remember what is important. I’ll not have you squander your time dedicated to these suits to go off and get into trouble. I’d rather you go out and have a life if you are not going to hang out with us once in a while.”
“Dad you of all people know that if I’m to keep up at all with anyone then I need to be equipped.” Kiwi protested. “I want to stay here with you guys but Mom was born with Ki and I wasn’t. If our people found us I’ll just be dead weight. Shouldn’t I have something to protect myself with in case you both are no longer around? It’s just tactically sound.”
“We’re not saying you shouldn’t… but you stink and you’ve only picked at the food I bring you and you need to wash your clothes and do your other chores. You’ve been making a sad effort on those and I have to go behind you and finish up.” Her mother argued. “Do you even know what tomorrow is?”
“Ah…” kiwi looked for a visual queue for that answer and when there was none she looked to her parents for help.
“I am turning forty tomorrow and you hardly noticed.” Her mother pouted.
It dawned on her what was happening her parent were dressed up and were about to go out and celebrate. She bolted back to turn off her copy machine and the fabric synchronizer.
“Give me ten minutes and I’ll be ready.” She bargained with them assuming they expected her to join too.
“Nuh-uh… we got something planned tomorrow and you will only be able to join after you do your chores.” Her father crossed his arms. “Clean the bathrooms, do the laundry, the dishes, and water the garden. If you are going to live here you need to make a contribution. And I don’t mean earning a big pay on your inventions and streams.”
“Your father and I are going on a date tonight. We’ll be back late and we’ll be checking in if we see you working on any part of that suit we’ll just cancel tomorrow’s plans.” She grinned as she held the scouter and handed it to her husband who folded it neatly and tucked it in a pocket of his jacket.
“Deal.” Her shoulders sunk. “The suit can wait a bit. I didn’t mean to forget about you guys. I just am so so close the fabric is coming out so good. And it’s just the basic under suit…” her parents gave her and expression and she halted her excitement. “… I’ll go water the garden before the sun goes down.”
She started past them when her father spoke up. “Ki… when I made my first suit that was a really good and proud moment. But I didn’t have time to worry about other people and I realized I had no connection or anything to others… it really blinded me to consider the cost of my choices. That’s why we worry and we want you to know that… this…” he gestured to both women and their house. “This is the greatest thing that I’ve ever built and I didn’t do it alone. I really want you to be apart of it especially now that you are grown we have so little time together left.”
“I know Dad… then again I’m not going anywhere.” she had heard this from him before. It weighed heavy on her heart he had to bring it up again. “You two have fun tonight… and be safe. I got my phone on me if you need to call.” She patted her back pocket and headed down stairs and outside.
It was still true she didn’t know where her life was headed. Leaving home and leaving earth seemed unnecessary but then again she has yet to be presented with a better choice.

The strips of fabric would hook into her helmet but the control would be resting comfortably at the back of her neck. It curved around her jawline and covered her neck and cowled around her shoulders. A strip went down her arms, her front and back and down her sides, which continued down her hips and calves all the way to the bottom of her feet.
She was so ready for this and she prayed to whoever listened as she saw the stats on her scouter of all fibers online and ready for the charge. She made her log entry and initiated the test. She would mention gaps in the fabric and seamless joining. She would also not speed of which it activated and the mobility she had with it on. She had a chill because frankly she was pretty bare aside from the strips. it would have to go under her clothes so she would make a test with and without them
She breathed calm and the room went silent.
“Dress-up.” Another phrase she was trying out and said with absolute clarity. Her throat tingled as the fibers around it registered the code word and power surged the fiber strips which exploded and synced as it wrapped her form. Every contour was being blanketed and the seems came together flawlessly in a few seconds and she felt that rush which monitored and enhanced her physical ability.
The scouter read all her vitals and all her stats. She could see everything going on it was enhances with her helmet connected to it. She got a grand scope of her insides down to the healing bones of when when broke her arm at the age of six.
She would reach her hands up and disconnect the helmet hearing it over heat. She still needed to work on that.
So it was just the suit, her base scouter, and her heart pounding like an absolute train engine. Which was just her excitement and not actually her enhancing properties. She repeated the word okay through whispers as he went to her checks. It was breathable, there didn’t seem to be any gaps.
Finally, a test successful.
She looked to a corner of her room. Where she had a strip of the same material wrapped around an egg that washed up on the river by their place. It pulsed with life as the creature lay dormant she would be able to monitor its vitals and development. She didn’t have this strip programmed for the enhanced ability of the suit but the pulse that went through it was a gentle hum. She could bring up on the computer a whole ultrasound and stats on the state of the baby. It had heat lamps and was cushioned in a bundle of sheets and pillows.
She could consider selling that version to the medical field.
Tuffman(tm) suit- a basic suit that sends a pulse through Kiwis system that ignites enhanced capabilities, providing high defense, included with safety and monitoring systems that send signals to the scouter to help her keep complete control and documentation of her physical form. This fiber suit will become the base of her outer armor for each piece in her Artificer series. Raises PL to suit PL enhancement +20%

What better way to test a suit than going to down town and maybe see if you get in trouble. Maybe, even better, starting a chase and not even get caught. Whether either of those things happen or not is not the most relevant point of this exercise.
She had her scouter and she ignited her suit with the phrase, “Dress-up.” which crawled across her skin under her clothes and closed around her neck hugging under her chin so that only her head was exposed. Her breath became long deep and slow as her body was becoming familiar with the hyper tuning the suit was doing to it. Her puffy coils could use the fresh breeze. They were only held back by a wire toothed head band over the middle of her scalp.
Her shoes were taken off as well as her socks which were shoved in a back pack and slung sight over her shoulders.
She tapped her scouter which will begin to run a standard area surveillance scan and gather her surroundings and picture them in a map.
She would start a slow run down the street. She was going no faster than anyone in a jog when she reached a gap where most people were at a fair distance she pushed off and made a graceful leap a whole two blocks distance. But instead of coming down to the pedestrian crossing she gripped a flagpole and spun on that. Her scouter was doing some instant measures of the building she was making projectiles towards and the suit and her were in mental sync and adjusted her path to land on the next skyscraper.
She landed softly and this building had edges and layers she began to hop across and gain momentum until it was a flat skyward tower her speed picked up and she ran. Her body leaned forward and her toes pushed off she gained speed and she pushed against gravity. Her impact pushed and pushed against the wall she was practically walking on water on difficult mode. When she hit the top she nearly tripped and her body stayed in air for a moment before coming back down. She landed on her back and there was a thump on the roof she stayed there for a second realizing she wasn’t hurt. The absorption of the impact was canceled and the physical effects were optimal. She breathed noting to herself she was ok. She was doing great actually.
She was so good she leaped up and cheered. She looked over the edge of the building and she screamed in absolute joy. No one could hear her on one of the tallest buildings in town and she lived in this moment for it.
The door to the roof access opened and she stopped and felt the alarms in her head go off. She would run and jump off the edge and start a free fall before she was seen.
With further slick maneuvers she would slow her descent and make it to the building next door. She monkeyed herself over rooftops and put her agility to the test. She didn’t stop for a couple of hours and when she did she slipped into the parking lot and undid her suit.
When she did she collapsed as the pulsing effects wore off and she realized she pushed herself really far on this day. While the system did keep her from injuring herself it was still a signal which would work her body harder than it was intended and she suddenly realized that it indeed was a lot worse than she expected.
In an ice bath later that night when she called her dad to come get her. She had done the equivalent of a weeks worth of working out in two hours and her body while kept together would feel that she needed to get used to that.

Her ear would press up against the egg. Wanting to hear something within, it was good and strong on the computer but she wanted to hear it move or something but it may be too early to tell much or expect much. After a few minutes of investigating it further she sat by it and would feel its smooth surface.
She got this egg from a funny spirit. It was a big egg and dad joked about breakfast but with a slug in the shoulder from both mom and kiwi they all chuckled it off. As I worked on the monitoring of the egg it was easy to see it was alive. The ultrasounds showed its progress which she had displaying on a screen. Dragons are not usually just seen and she lamented about maybe this one may have lost its parent and the Spirit, which Kiwi received it from, would find it a home in those who asked.
She curled next to it and wrapped her arm over it pulling it close against her. It was big so that wasn’t the easiest thing but it was so warm.
“So hey… when you get out of there… we have a big yard for you to play in and a Barn for you to grow big in. I’ll feed you lots and see if you like chin scratches.” She teased. “You’ll definitely be really big and I know my parents will regret telling me yes to keeping you but it will be too late because we’ll be the best of friends and I’ll make you the coolest outfits. And I’ll give you the coolest name, I still have to think about that one but… maybe it will come to me when I see your personality.”
She pulled away after planting a kiss on the shell and adjusted the thermostat on the warmer. It was incubating under a warm lamp which during the day Kiwi would turn down to adjust to the appropriate temperature change of the sunlight and turn it up since nights got colder.
“I’m going to go out for a bit. But don’t worry I’ll be keeping an eye on your status on my phone… so if you need anything let me know… ok?” She waited to see if it would answer even if she felt it wouldn’t just yet.
She would leave the tech at home except for her phone and ear buds and set to work her body better. She would zip up in a tracksuit and plug in her ear phones. She would take off in a jog. The cardio was something she needed. A few diagnostic studies on her body showed an out of sync with her physical state and the suit she made.
Tuffles were not just nerds in fancy suits. And she had some good strength but after a some minutes of running a firm jog she was realizing she had no stamina. The suit gave her all of the power so she was able to last much longer but she did not have it in the bare bones of her physique. She was fit but she also spent the last three months holed up in her dads old space ship working on her own suit. So she was basically a nerd with a fancy suit and that just won’t do.
She played some music and would set to work on a morning jog and take a trek into some woods near by and climb some trees for practice.
All the while she wondered what she’d name the being she had egged up in her room.

Her mother was of the East and her father was from space. Her mothers heritage also had roots south of the equator. They were an odd and rich cultural medley. They parents met in their late college years. Father was pretty strong in his education unbeknownst to his professors that the land which he hailed was far more advanced than that of Earth. To say getting a higher education was a breeze to father was an understatement. Mother no doubt was one of the few who would see this and opted to lend him a hand in finding his place on Earth. Not a few years later they had a cute baby and now a couple of decades later she was almost grown.
She understands how to fight on a basic level. She understands the danger she faces on a fundamental level where saying the wrong thing to the wrong person can ruin everything she already has. Her and her father are constantly torn between if she should pursue being a soldier even on the Earth level or if she shouldn’t.
Frankly even a smidge of Tuffle tech becoming mainstream on the earth markets and capitalism can tip off some shared interest. Hence Kiwi has made all her stuff original.
Today she was making a choice. She would create a kind of purpose for herself and a goal. Nothing made her happier than the things she could tinker with and the family that supported her to do it. She won’t join the military for that was a lot of standard and structure she had to follow. She felt it was like forfeiting her life and the balance was not conducive to the child of a deserter. She would consider as she was getting money in a fair flow from her copyrights and patens sold she didn’t need a job. She wanted to do something.
She would carry her egg outside and lay it in some sun. The breeze that blew through was cooling and the sun was high and warm. She would have a cool towel in her hand which she draped over her neck. She just finished working out a session.
“Do you feel like there is something that you could do and you are just waiting on the right sign?” She chuckled. “Maybe I’m just watching too many old eastern films but man, being being some chosen one or be spirited away somewhere and roped into some excitement would not be too bad.”
She was talking to the egg but it wasn’t like she truly was talking to anyone.
“It’s not like I’m looking for trouble and I’m not bored of my life. I love waking up every day being the smart and good looking woman that I am.” She grinned.
“But I do feel like maybe something is coming my way and I’m both afraid and excited to see what it will be.” She concluded.

A projection above her broadcasted a view of some programming she was catching up on as she worked out. Across her ceiling she tapped on a virtual keyboard of the things she wanted her program to do. She worked out bugs and fixes as her back was on the floor.
Her legs were doing some reps. She had weights wrapping her ankles as she swung them left to right with twisting her hips to work her core. From her left her body in a ninety degree angle at her waist lifted her straight legs and they arched in a tall motion to the right. Brain work and physical work she was a multitasking master
She ran her system to test and her grin dropped when it didn’t pan out. She opened the code again and searched and repeated the process. She switched positions for the next set of reps after a while she brought her knees in and began working on some reps to strengthen her knees. It was leg day and every bit mattered.
She ran her system again to test and it still bombed its code. She made various mumbles and complaints to open it again and continued searching. She found more and more errors every time she repeated the rundown so there was indeed work to be done but it was no less a pain.
She worked reps on her ankles and there after closed the programs to peel herself off her back and continue with reps that would require too much movement and focus to see accurately on the screen. Instead she wirelessly turned on a monitor by her voice commands and it began her streaming channel on the old foreign movies she had and continued to record and enhance the films to digitally preserve them.
She vocally turned on another monitor and looked at her Egg’s vitals to see how the baby was coming along. All and all a normal day in paradise.

This week she asked her Dad to come into the yard. They had their own sandy area where things like this were common. Mom was close by washing the car and her Egg was sunbathing in a lawn chair.
“It’s been a while since we did this.” He started. “You got tired of losing and I wasn’t going to force you into it if you were just going to hate me for it, what changed?”
“I don’t know… quite a lot?” Kiwi shrugged. “I guess I can take a few more loses if it means I can one day win when it counts.”
“As your dad I’m proud of your decision but that’s not the mindset you should have.” He pointed out while stretching his shoulders. “Understand, if they go through you they’ll get to what you care about so win because it will always count. Others behind you, count on you and if you fall, they’ll face the consequences. It’s not negotiable.”
“You said as my dad, but who said the second part?” Kiwi was also stretching herself. She had heard this before but that part was a bit different. Suppose he had prepared for this and she decided she was going to play along.
“Your Pride.” He answered. “You have not quite grasped that all of this could be taken and all your efforts burned down.”
He steps back a couple of paces and wraps an arm around his wife pulls her to him. She and kiwi grew some confused faces until Jack came to speak again.
“Don’t think of me as someone you know.” He wrapped an arm around Persimmon’s waist and another around her shoulders looking like he could put her in a choke hold. “Think of me as someone who can snap a neck like a number two pencil.”
He grins and kisses her cheek when she smiles at his teasing. “Oh no, Kiwi this could be the end if you can’t save me! And I’ll take my Cookie recipe to the grave without ever passing it down to you!” She made a dramatic hand swipe here brow like she was fainting.
Her dad chuckled. “I’m trying to be serious and prove a point here…”
“You’re being extra dramatic roping me into this.” She moved his hand and went back to her task.
Kiwi stood a little awkwardly as she was watching her parents have that moment. Her dad cleared his throat and walked closer looking a bit more prepared for the situation as he composed himself back into the zone.
“The things I do to care for my family…” he started. “I was not alive when the Saiyans took our ancestral home. But we were drilled to hold what is ours close to mind because it was taken. Even if all we had was our pride as Tuffles we would no longer budge from where we stood. Draw a line to prevent others from passing and again taking what we worked hard for.”
“My line drawn is different from the rest of my people. I made a choice, one that chooses you two and what we built here which separates me from them. Yet my line is still drawn.”
He pics up a stick and draws a line in the sand across the entire area where they’ll spar.
“Draw yours and take your stance.” He would tell her, tossing the stick, and take his own stance ready to start.
Kiwi mirrored him and he signaled when to begin with a motion for her to come to him.

Her back planted in the dirt which seeped into every crevice of her body and clothes making it hard on her skin and every movement felt like grinding sand paper against her self.
Even her eyes and mouth suffered from the amount of sand she was ingesting. The repeat planting and rolling of her body in the dirt renewed that even more sand than she even thought possible could stick to her.
She was planted again into the dirt. She began to ache, itch, and chafe everywhere. And it grinned against her skin more when wide arms wrapped around her and pinned her in holds she couldn’t get out of without breaking herself. She tapped out of every round.
When she did her father would let go and wait for her to get back up and tell him she was ready. Each of these days she lasted longer and at first an hour was all she could tolerate but today they were nearing the third hour into this session.
But her limbs were jello and her breath was raspy. She laid with her back to the sky and her body facing that annoying ground.
A warm hand patted her back as her dad shuffled beside her.
“You’re getting stronger Ki…” he assured her. “But this might be your limit for today. You’re giving it your all and that’s something that you should be proud of.”
With shakey arms, so tired from the work they were put under she raised herself and turned over to see him.
“I… kind of forget why I want to work on this so bad.” She sighed. “I could be thinking of a things and working to hard to accomplish what may never happen.”
Jack got comfortable by his daughter. “Your resolve is shaken from all the pressure you’re putting on yourself. Maybe it’s no longer a good enough reason to motivate you to make all this effort. You got to find that line to draw.”
“I… I thought I had it drawn with helping our family have a safe life to live?” she questioned.
“That’s a good line to draw and we are grateful for your support. But we all want to protect what is ours, of course that just the bottom line.” He pointed out. “Consider… you could ask for more.”
“More…?” Kiwi furrows her brows. “Like, what do you mean?”
He ponders a moment. “What if… what if you didn’t have to fight? Say… saiyans come here and feel raw and ready to take it all, but… we as Tuffles did once know they can be spoken to and even agree with one another. We lived on the same planet before we were driven off it.”
“Right…?” She hoped he would continue.
“Consider… don’t be like us… maybe try better. Because maybe, just maybe, there is more to the story than what I was told.” He winked.
He got up and left Kiwi to ponder that thought.
And so she did…

She was building a database on what earth had on saiyans and tuffles. Obviously not much but then she expanded her database on Earth relations based on key words and that helped.
She then had an idea.
One that made her wonder why she hadn’t thought about it before. She flipped a panel and pulled out a plug in to hook up to her set up to include the database from the ship logs.
She would go down and let that run its course which could take hours and even days.
She took a deep breath and began to prepare herself for the next couple of hours. Dad decided to set a time limit so minimize what happened in the previous session. Frankly the ache from Kiwi pushing that much left her sore for a week.
It just gave her a good chance to think while she bathed in scented salts and rested in bed. Eating some extra healthy recovery food.
The three dimensional printer was also working on her next piece of equipment which can be done soon.
Well underway she was racing her Dad again who was throwing her around like a rag doll again.
Her back hit the dirt and a dust cloud plumbed around her.
“Come on Ki… the way we fight is key to taking down people bigger and stronger than you.” He pointed out. “You’ve got more strength than that.”
She sits up and exhaled in frustration. “I don’t know you’re just so much faster and I can’t seem to penetrate to get to your points of weakness needed to falter your holds.”
“Ok, stand up and show me where those points are.” He instructed.
She got up and began pointing where the pressure points go and one by one she was right.
“Ok now show me how you are going to aim for them. We are taking a step or two back and we’re going over some. Basics, I’ll go slow. Bear with me?” He urged her.
And she would move in for the moves and he would show her how he was deflecting them before moving into his own.
“You’re just coming at me. You know where to go for but head on is not the answer. You have to see how they come to you then slip into where those points are going to come near to you. This will happen a good majority of the time.” He smiled. “Ok I’ll show you…
And they mapped out step by step without any real impact but kiwi was feeling it in her muscles where she needed to go. It was one thing seeing how it works it was another thing understanding how it works.
It helped.
When she was finished she would climb back to her room trying to remember all she was feeling. She heard chirping as two mechanical eyes would activate recognizing her with motion sensors and follow her to the 3D printer.
She cleaned up the pieces and clicked them in place. A tall character stood and waited for their next command. They had long pigtails almost the full length of their body. Kiwi “dressed” and painted her dollish looking creation.
She had a few laying around now and little by little they were coming together.
She hooked up a connection to download her suits software to the doll and along its eyes displayed the loading bar. That took but a few minutes. She slipped on her suit and activated it. She hooked up her scouter with it and herself.
“Jetty to me.” She grinned excitedly when the command registers and the robot chirps excitedly before splitting in half and attaching itself to her knees with the long pigtailed arms and the rest transformed and slipped over her feet.
She slipped out a window and breathed.
“Ok Jetty…” It chirped in her vision giving kiwi all the statistics and information displaying on her scouter.
“… let’s go.” The thrusters ignited and kiwi took off into the sky.
*Kiwi wants to learn flight.

The Database she built was running common themes and key words and putting together a synopsis of what went down on multiple platforms which would conclude patterns in the mortal function and behavior. She started to consider the psychology of the patterns but she realized to isolate one reason or another would be wrong. She focused on difficult situations which there was no right or no wrong. She focused on resolutions of which she was viewing the consequences which trailed into many branches in life.
She suddenly wished she could just plug in her brain and absorb everything. But she would instead just study it all in its categoric flow. She learned much and it shaped her in some way. She grew to understand points of view and how communication can bridge many resolutions. It gave her much to ponder about. She would make an effort to converse with father about certain topics which he was taught about his homeland and she might wonder where the truth would be told.
The data base that grew upon some amount of hidden and buried pieces of history which felt like myth and legend or even exaggerated points of truths or lies. She began to pick a couple and would look to investigate them. She would consider some equipment she needed and make a blue print to start on another idea. A chirping noise signaled her presence when the motion detected software registers Kiwi’s face.
The girl smiled at the naked robot frame that was stretched out in various parts about to be compartmentalized with efficiency and functionality in mind.
She would add an upgrade to her dads scouter to better detect energies in the area. She would tell a recognition software to recognize known wavelengths in energies. Given a starting point of her Ex’s Ki wavelengths and her mothers raising temper when she blows a gasket. She would be debugging that software as a priority between mechanical tinkering and brainstorming more tech.
Kiwi wants to learn: Energy sense.
