On the next beach over she saw mostly desert past the beach foliage.
“This was about the area that lived another martial artist what competed in past tournaments.” She would speak to Egg. “Oh! And in the same breath there is a rumored fortuneteller for a steep price they’ll supposedly able tell you your future or find anything you are missing. They are supposed to have a great palace and they enjoy letting truly brave people test their strength. Maybe if they are still there maybe we can indulge ourselves with a visit. However I’m not super interested in knowing my future, I believe that when they show me then surely the future I arrive at will change… to me that kind of defeats the point.”
She looked down at the sack where Egg would rest against her abdomen the straps went over her shoulders but as her back was being held by her bike then egg usually sat in front.
“Maybe if I ask her for anything I’ll see what you look like or maybe if there is anything I can do to help take care of you.” She smiled bright and chuckled patting the egg like it was the top of a child’s head.
She got to a more solid patch of ground rather than loose sands, before letting down her bike and all her belongings and switching Egg to her back. She collapses her suit to feel the air a bit better.
To her surprise it was just hot. She made an exhale of dismay and tried to air out her head but otherwise would return her suit to full coverage and protect herself from the intense sun rays. She pulled up local articles on the martial artist from this region as well as general knowledge. She projected it out in the open and skimmed the data she held before her. As she leaned over the bike’s armrest.
“Well, the water flow was restored and he was rewarded with a shrine in his name. We should start there and pay our respects.” She started the bike and began to learn how to drive on the looser sand. She drove through one desert land already but the roads were hardened and settled like the arching dome-like structures that rested all across it. The bandits there were absolutely not favorable though. She’ll take this territory over being chased by a bunch of thieves and bullies anyway.
It was not long before she came across a more flourishing area which held comfortable arid Flora that would take advantage of the large river. Kiwi would take advantage of that and head into the direction it flowed downwind. By the time she reached the river she would see the oasis of a town full of hustle and bustle she was loud in approach, not on purpose however just that her Bike was probably one of only a handful of actively running engines. Some cargo were pulled by animals or people others by Peddle bikes. Some local authority seemed to be eyeing her and she would cautiously take off her helmet. So they can note she wasn’t some alien… well not entirely.
She paused that train of thought and figured out the irony of it. Her being half Tuffle technically made her half alien. She was proud of this fact but it’s not like she had fun vibrant hues to her features, extra appendages, and spoke in clicks and incoherent sounds. she was just unable to harness Ki like Earthlings as well as the majority of the Galaxy.
She would roll her bike through the streets and smile at faces with passing glances until she noted the small roughly carved stone that would be the memorial of the towns hero. He sure looked like a martial artist in this depiction. All his features were made by someone who was very grateful to him.
She would see some people making their exit from the town and would gesture towards the statue. She would mimic them and salute her own to the memorial. She understands that this was requesting a safe journey and she felt this was appropriate for this moment in her life.
“Let’s find something local to eat and be on our way. Definitely something spicy!” She smiled feeling a bit more at peace with the fact she’s making this journey. She felt this was definitely apart of the plan and was happy to have added this place as a stop.

She flipped through all of her data and studied a bit more. She was sitting at a table eating something. Rather spicy so she grabbed a napkin to wipe the run off from her nose. She was fine eating the meal it reminded her of many of her mothers dishes. Father had a soft palette however. He spent most of his life eating the nutritional basics Tuffle military prepares. Which is similar to her calorie packs mom homemade. Flavorless and long lasting shelf life. Kiwi felt the spices but she was really enjoying the flavors. It was finger food and she could only tap away with one hand but man it was a prosperous town. She was greeted with a woman who would be looking at her projections kiwi’s automatic translator would clear up any misunderstandings.
It it was simply the passing curiosity of a woman asking how Kiwi was enjoying her meal. She was resting in a small restaurant with only maybe six tables. To which she took up one and a pair of old men took up another drinking some afternoon coffee. The smoked thick hand rolled tobacco and herbs as they chatted about the trades and shipments they were expecting. Looking to make a deal on some wood. Building lumber for housing.
She didn’t mean to listen in as she tapped away. But her automatic translator caught enough that she was displaying their conversation across her screen in a discreet window across her head set. She closed it and tuned out the rest as she worked.
At home her room will come to life and start building the parts she needed. When those parts were done they’d be packed at start a fun little flight with a drone to follow her mark. Wherever she ends up in the mean time.
Just as she got the confirmation they started up she got a call.
It was Mom.
Of course Kiwi answered.
“Hey everything ok mom?” Kiwi asked.
“Yes everything is fine. I just heard your machines start up and… for a moment I thought you were home.” She sounded a little sad. “It’s been quiet and a little empty some days without you clanking around with a pocket full of screws and bolts.”
“Awe… it’s like you miss me or something.” Kiwi teased.
“I do! What kind of mother would I be if I didn’t!” She huffed and pouted.
The pout didn’t last long when she heard her daughter chuckle and felt the contagious laughter. “What are you doing up there and can I help with any of it? What has your trip been like so far? And what are you eating?”
“I’m building more parts to my suit. The system up there should have it all set and ready but if I’m a couple of hours you can basically see it’s safely ready for shipment that would be great. I’ve already got it set up to follow where I am so you don’t need to do much but box it up.” She would say just to give her mom a reason to help. She could see the relief on her face that she can still feel part of her daughter’s endeavors even if it was from far away.
“I’m in a village more south west from us. I’ve passed the southern Islands and is on the continent with some harder desert climates than that area before frypan mountain.” She summed up for her mom. “They have this restaurant with this saucy stew that rivals your cooking.”
“Oh! Is that a challenge? You know I’ve been taking it easy on you and your father because you can’t handle what I grew up with.” She teased.
Kiwi chuckled. “You have underestimated me mother, have you been to that Wings restaurant lately?”
“The one with the… fireball mountain challenge?” She gave her mom a moment a grin grew on her face. “No… you didn’t!”
“My picture is on their wall of fame we are the first generational winners.” Kiwi proudly proclaimed.
“I don’t believe you… I’m about to call and check and see for myself you better not be lying to me.” She only half-joked with a wide smile. “And I’ll really know you are bluffing when I cook with my full potential and you can’t survive it!”
“You’re on.” Kiwi agrees. “How is dad?
He’s in town getting some errands done, you know, paying the bills and getting groceries. He misses you too… I catch him going into your room and looking at his old spaceship.” She paused a moment and a soft sad smile falls on her face. “I think he still sees a shadow of what it looks like before us. I don’t know how he feels about it. He… can’t explain it well… so many years of shoving one’s emotions aside creates many hurdles to find the right ones when they are unfamiliar.”
“Knowing you are out there and not where he can see you for the first time… he’s processing it.” She shrugged. “Just like me.”
“I’m ok… I’m coming home. The suit I’ve got is really good I’m just making better additions to go over it.” Kiwi assured.
“Don’t think that within that shell you are protected… a turtle is no match for a truck.” Kiwi’s mother lectured. “You’re safe for now but you do not know what tomorrow will bring and you are on a journey which comes with a sacrifice… you can no longer let your guard down. The trials you choose to take up can not be shrugged off when you don’t want them anymore. So choose wisely.”
“Yeah… that makes sense. Sorry mom.” She had a point.
“I want you to be safe Ki. I love you.” Her mothers expression grew gentle again.
“Love you too.” She would hang up on Kiwi with much to think about.

In the distance she rode away from the town where a past contender of the Martial arts tournament once lived. The sands were a bit harder to traverse on her bike but she was more worried about the sun. There was a lot of temptation to make flight on her way out. For now she was going to choose the harder route. The road here was becoming more well traveled. So it wasn’t completely troubling.
From the looks of it there was a bit more modern traffic. She noted a helicopter flying over head and the occasional expensive car.
She saw it appear over a dune, the place where people get their Fortunes told. She paused at the top of that dune the area was filled with an energy her scouter tries to measure. It was an energy she hadn’t seen before.
“It’s not Ki.” She deduced. She would analyze the frequencies the area emitted and take note of them. A quick diagnostic categorized the frequencies and added them to her database.
She wanted to visit, truly, but now she was here she felt something in her chest. She felt a little afraid. Something in what her mother said would have come to light on what she was aiming to gain with this trip. She felt if Kiwi knew the future and its paths then there would be a responsibility she would have to carry.
A responsibility she wouldn’t be able to put down. Whatever it was could likely still come and maybe she can prepare for it.
But… what if she couldn’t?
She would bring egg to the front to hold it. Sometimes that was comforting.
“It’s a nice place huh?” She would ask it. “Now… I’m not saying this because I’m scared, I think I need more time to make up my mind to be honest. We can always come back around and make a more official visit after we climb the tower.”
She looked at the egg opened it up from its sack just to see it better. It rested high on her chest and she turned her head sideways to listen to the inside. “Hey…We are on this trip together. You have a say in these things too.”
The egg twitched and glowed as kiwi watched. Her face lit up and she sat it down in the sand to give it plenty of room. Well her face was hovering real close as the cracks formed and it had a power to it that she had never seen. Her scouter read off the charts energy and it sent shards of shell at her face when it bursts forth. She stumbled back on her bum when a shard of it got in her eye. She was half blinded by the i shielded eye that her scouter didn’t cover. She followed the movement until it formed into a physical being.
“You hatched!” Her expression lit up and her arms reached out for the baby to come into her reach.
It twirled and curled with many squeaks and caws of its small voice. So many thoughts ran into her head and so many answers were told to her in the wise eyes of the dragon which snapped its jaws and wiggled its body in joyful elation.
“What will we name you?” She stood with it in her hands and went to her bike she would pull out some snacks to feed the being with and it chomped violently on the beef sticks she unwrapped.
Kiwi chuckled loudly. “Watch my fingers bud… how about Ludus or Seleni?”
It“Leet… or maybe I should call you Snap?” She chuckled again watching it snap for more food. “Yeah Snap Dragon. Snappy, Snapper, Snip-snap.”
“We’ll be a good team, let’s work hard together. Yeah?” She let it climb on her for a bit until it got settled in a good and comfortable position on her shoulders.
She looked back at the witches home. “You know what; past, present, or future aside we don’t have to see what’s coming. We just need to prepare ourselves for anything and everything.”
And with that she would fashion a pocket for Snap to rest in and motor off. Whether she visits the home of the mysterious witches is up to the next few seconds. Just like everything else in her life. Bearing the weight of one’s choice without knowing any variables is not easy to calculate in Kiwi’s mind. When the variables chose to make themselves known is when Kiwi shines the most.
((The egg hatches! A small dragon is born of the egg and upon imprinting on Kiwi awakens the power of a Dragon within her! Kiwi Unlocks a new transformation that takes the place of her Tier 1 Transformation.

As she sped off closer she felt that at any moment she’ll see the tower on the horizon. For the moment she has begun to see a large line of lush trees on the other side of some short mountains. The desert is becoming more rocky and the area is filled with rough terrain. Suppose that’s way different from the loose sands. She stopped a moment by a river and would take one of her boots and modify a few setting on it and after a moment it became essentially a leaf blower. They transformed themselves into their phase two forms they danced while they took the time to blow the excess of sand off and in her bike.
She was essentially bare foot other than her zero suit but she minimized it for a moment and took off her helmet and scouter to dip her feet in the stream.
Her new companion would crawl out of its pouch and the moment it felt the sun it would sprawl out and huff a little. Kiwi took a finger and slit it over its snout and between its eyes to over its head and down its spine two or three times before stopping to grab a bite to eat. There was a tall wall of a cliff in the distance the sound of a large waterfall had added ambient sounds to the area. She was aware that atop of that cliff held the home of another martial artist who participated in the tournament all those years ago.
They were a warrior clan of beasts that were on the rarer kind of Earthlings. They were more like distant dinosaurs related. They are said to be very territorial and don’t like to share much. Hence there isn’t much contact with them. She contemplated a visit. Maybe they had longer life spans and she could speak to the former runner up.
When she heard a group of cackling voices and felt them stomp on the ground she would suit up. The noise startled her dragon and it was around her shoulders in a second. She put on her helm and called her boots back to her. They transformed back into shoes and she stepped into them hearing the mechanics whirl and lock into place.
She would see three that looked similar to the warrior she looked up. Obviously none of them were him but they were of the same kind. They’d note her presence and one huffed its chest while the others either smiled or nudged at the middle one. Obviously they were going to choose to start trouble.

“Hey guys!” She said through a mechanically echoed voice. “Listen I’m passing by through after hearing this warrior from your home compete in the Martial arts tournament. I came to offer my respects.”
“As if you know anything about strength to offer your respects.” They’d chuckle.
She blew an exhale which was audible past her suit. “Oh that’s kind of a cheap shot.”
Her hands went up and she shrugged. “Hey, you know the brain is a muscle too. I’ve honed my knowledge and craft to get by. I’m clear halfway across the world on my own strength. The things I’ve memorized and built upon will make you dizzy.”
“Ringing your bell will make you dizzy.” They were close enough to begin surrounding her. “This is our place and we don’t particularly like others taking what is ours or putting their dirty feet in our water. We like the bike and we like that shiny shell you have on ya. Might clear my tab at the bar.”
A big scaley claw landed across her cheek but she didn’t budge.
She sighed a heavy breath. “You know what you are right maybe I should have looked up where the border was better. If I had known this was your territory as well I would have probably dipped my feet further downstream.” But she raised a finger. “But you know what let me double check that point of yours.”
When they recovered from the shock of their first blow not phasing the half tuffle. They would have a unique martial art that suited their body. It was unleashed on her at many points of her body. Each blow landed with a thud some with a metallic tap. She searched her sources and brought up the land borders and found out something funny.
“Oh turns out actually I am not in your country yet and you three have crossed over into another border.” She looked at their gear, spears and hooks. “To hunt? Oh… I hope you had the proper permits.”
She saw them pause and pant breathless as they slowed their assaults on her and she stood unphased.
“Listen maybe I won’t alert the local authorities about this and you guys can just mind your own business. I’ll mind mine and go around the long way… ok?” She could only hide the smile behind her helmet she hoped she could hide it well enough in her voice. Either way she was proud of herself and how far her creation has come.
“Yeah sure… whatever…” the largest one panted and waved a claw in her direction urgently asking her to just go.
She would get on her bike and motor off with a wave goodbye to her new acquaintances.
Snap would chirp where it laid snug as a bug.
“Yeah if i was out of this armor they would have broken me to bits. They could tell that underneath it they had the power over me.” She shook her head. “But with this armor… if I just flexed my tech on them… that’s kind of bullying. I’m not going to be like that. I know my strength down to the letter. My readings are accurate and precise. I don’t have to prove anything.”

She would approach a clearer forest. She recognized this area. There was a militant force which owned this area as their greatest stronghold.
“Ok Snap we gotta behave here. Technically…” she paused hearing a beep on her scouter. She would note a drone coming in with a familiar cargo carrier. It was Mom’s delivery.
“Shit! If they shoot that down…” she dropped her bike and would fire up her boots to leap at the drone before it got any closer. With swift hands she made it shut off in mid air and it would free fall a short distance in her arms.
When she landed she sighed a bit of relief. But another alarm sounded off. The sync between her scouter and the equipment inside was automatic and it was a bit late to stop it. The carrier itself exploded and three new little doll like automations would burst out and attach themselves to Kiwi’s zero suit.
They chirped with Glee and transform into their perspective pieces. She already had legs covered, but now she had both arms and a chest to hook up to her helmet.
From this day forth she had her first full tuffle equip. And it made its debut in front of a military base. Touchy timing. It even was downloading upgrades to her already in use leg pieces.
“Maybe they didn’t see or sense that… probably right?” She tilted her helmet to Snap which during all this had done its best to avoid getting pinched by the eager transformations it currently was trying to chew on an antenna nub she had on her shoulder.
She chuckled at his cuteness as the downloads completed themselves and she would set up camp a few miles out. Maybe if she didn’t just rush in then she’ll convey she wasn’t a thing to worry about
-Kiwi has her full suit.
Tuffle Artificer: Each piece works independently as well as cohesively with the user’s own motives.
Head- fitted for her scouter has an added set of features which includes an expanded 360 view with voice settings and camera additions with added memory for further data collection. (Transforms from helmet to Rolling Ball camera droid with recording and voice projecting features.)
Right Arm- display output features as well as hacking and lock picking functionality. Has features which include jamming tech and security/energy defenses. Equipped with smokescreen control. (Transforms from arm to RC car with Jamming fictions)
Left Arm- powers Melee stats to both arms which increase speeds and shock of blows. Has small features for close range arms like darts/ small caliber artillery/ tracking chips/paint ball ammo (Transforms from arm to flying drone with small artillery fire functions)
Body- main battery/ power source/connector. Has functions to monitor her body and health features. Equipped with defibrillator, and wound care. (Transforms from body to small tank with wide area shield defense capabilities)

“Ok we can try this again.” She would say and snap would sneeze.
Frankly she spent most of her time the previous evening really enjoying the look of her new suit. Right now the little doll like automations that made up the parts were in their compact forms and packed away. She was just in her condensed Zero suit and helm as she motored through the entrance. The whole area was a military base but it had civilian access. She should just be able to drive through a couple of check points.
Which worked but she got a glimpse of the whole internal area. They were performing drills and transports from the looks of it all just basic day to day things probably.
What she didn’t know was the massive space launch they owned.
“Oh that must have been a pretty penny.” Kiwi was in awe at the space port. “Obviously we are a planet that accommodates for many visits from space but I’ve not seen one myself and I’ve definitely not seen one that big.”
Kiwi is reminded that she had aspirations to visit Planet Plant. Well the second planet Tuffles lived on, before the saiyans took it.
“I don’t really have any plans or ideas about being amongst my father’s kind… I’m just curious. You know… sometimes you want to see what you have in common with others. Especially when something’s don’t quite line up with the Earthlings that you know.”
She crossed her arms. “Hard to connect with people when you burn their eye brows off.”
She shrugged remembering her most recent Ex-boyfriend. He was a Ki user which tested out some of her early prototypes but they had a rocky relationship from the start. Maybe she knew she was too involved in the workings of her suit and gadgets. Also it’s not liked she was like Earthlings entirely. She always saw that look in others eyes which would lose interest or be confused when she would talk tech.
As she got older she found more like minds but relationships were not easy. Dad got lucky with Mom and Kiwi was lucky to have them both.
“Besides it’s not like Tuffles will welcome us with open arms. Dad knows what he did and… I know there will be some things that as an Earthling, Tuffles won’t get.” She shrugged. “Vicious circles, you know?”
She would motor off and leave the base behind with they were very close to the tower now. It should be within view before long.

The rest of the trip was pretty quiet she would search the horizon for the tower and finally she could see it. She stopped and it woke up Snap. It would snip at the ends of her hair. She giggled feeling it tickle a bit. A hand went over his and she looked at it and no doubt the tower went way above the clouds. Her thoughts about climbing it began to look less than a likely feat. Not many have succeeded in the task anyway.
Why did she even start this long journey. And why did it matter above all else to see places and inspiration of warriors in the past.
She wanted to see a bit of inspiration. She wanted to know what it meant for others to find strength and if she could find that in herself when, or if, the time comes.
This world would was great to see beyond the monitors and images. It would be a pretty good reason. The people she met were worth hoping they’d grow into the futures they dream. Even the sour moments and the tough times she reminisces a bit about as she drank some water.
Her parents who sacrificed much to give her a peaceful life. They chose love and they chose Kiwi, which meant they could only choose Earth.
Did she have to make the same choice?
“That’s…” she realized. “That’s the difference.”
Maybe she wasn’t completely satisfied to make that choice to put her whole heart into a fight. She had questions and she had to wonder whether that truly had to be her only choice. She would be happy if it was but she wants to know more and see if that was truly all.
“Maybe the tower can’t give me that answer… but we came all this way right?” She looked at her friend who scratched its eye with a winged claw unaware she was getting its attention.
The engine revs and she motors towards the tower’s base.

Before she had her answers she was already thinking about the kind of weapon she could make. What type should it be? what practice should she use with it? What will work out what she already knew?
Her suit material would be used for the base of whatever she made. She could power it to keep up with herself then. Maybe something with chains. Might could convert them between blunt weapons and blades. She was already in seconds mapping out many things. She glances around and would see different styles. They’d be recorded in her database as a passive note. She would mathematically understand the concepts and strength behind the moves of the practiced students around her.
Depending on this Masters answer she honestly would be about to make up her mind she was already glimmering with excitement to tinker with the tools she could be given.

For a few days she had to do that training for the pole balancing. She hadn’t really Let go of her staff either.
She had a list of questions.
She directed one of her robots to her and it woke and chirped from its charging position and walked over as Kiwi directed it to bring forth a set of connections. They were not unlike the prototype cords she made before her suit’s final design. They transferred communication from point A to point B, point B being the Arm bot.
She needed a better name for these additions.
For now this was the one that would be sending data to her scouter as a medium for reading the energy signature Kiwi was about to send through.
She NEEDED more answers. This wasn’t negotiable.
She would looked out her tent and saw the base of the tower as she gathered magic. She would hold it at a steady pace even given her sore muscles this was an easy breathing exercise and concentration exercise.
It went on for about five minutes when the arm addition would beep. It immediately filled her scouter with its results. She would look at it and compare it to the samples of other energy readings she had collected. She had electrical and other natural forms of latent energy waves, Ki, and Now magic.
She would display a projection of them all and stare at them.
“Call Dad…” she would verbally prompt communication to her Father. She wanted to know just what Tuffles thought of Magic and why it might not have ever been used. For what she saw… it showed a bigger picture.

No matter what she did she was having trouble seeing not just the top of the tower but if there was any energy reading. It was like looking through a camera to catch Bigfoot and all you get is fuzz and noise.
She was just about to give up when she made a realization. She really could punish herself for this one.
She chuckled hard. “Just because you can recognize magic energy readings does not mean you are outfitted to detect them…” her pause in thought before a smile. “…Or use them.”
She thought about how she would have to reconfigure all the code on the entire suit and even the additions.
“Actually…” she continued to think out loud.
Kiwi felt her magic in her fingers. She already understood the power system in her suit. It was akin to her as her own body.
“Hm… I could be a battery.”
She would feel her clothes shift as she gave the command to open her Xero suit. It was going to be just a test. She did the math in her head and it was more a test of her limits. When she was covered from chin to toe she would feel the original cell power systems flow their energy from her hands she would try to override that power with her magic she would breathe and she would send that energy which would be amplified quickly and her body suddenly fell into the dirt. All her inner energy was zapped out to accommodate the power needed to even attempt to power the suit.
Her body was regulating the power the suit naturally had but the head fog she was experiencing was blinding. The world spun and it felt like she laid on waves. She wanted to sleep and puke at the same time.
It took her some time. Her magic ability didn’t seem like it could keep up with her tech.
She really was starting at square one.
“Ugh…” she groaned as she was finally able to divide the sky and the ground separately. Her arms were jelly and her legs were numb. If it wasn’t for her suit then she definitely would have lost consciousness. Her suit was regulating the blood flow in her body and it assisted her breathing. All her levels were being by well maintained by her regulatory system.
“I’m not a… battery…”
… Yet.
She’d muster the strength to stand and drag herself to her encampment.
