Fighting is good.
But running? Running's not so good. If someone runs, then they're not gonna fight. And if they're not gonna fight, there's no point.
Zephyr gives a long sigh as he thinks about this problem. He'd seen a bird that looked like it might be strong, but despite his demands, it never came down to fight him. Instead, no matter how long he chased it, it never came down, it just flew there, out of his reach.
Jumping didn't do it, but when he leapt into the sky, he could feel... something. Something on the ground that kept fighting him and pulling him down.
It doesn't matter what it is, he's going to beat it.
Zephyr closes his eyes and flexes, using his energy to fight the pull that kept tugging him down, always heading back down towards the ground. For several minutes, nothing happens, and he grows more and more furious at the problem. However, there comes a point where he doesn't feel that pull, and he opens his eyes, only to find himself twenty feet in the air, looking down at the ground.
"Oh. Good!"
He grins, then looks around.
Where'd that damn bird go...?

Okay. So the bird got away.
That, in itself, was more than upsetting, and Zephyr's decided that he will never let some stupid bird be able to hide from him again. Even as a boy, he'd heard about his dad finding people without using his eyes, and really... anything his dad could do, Zephyr could do too.
Except beat him in a fight. And that was the most important thing. ANYWAY.
He closes his eyes, picturing the bird in his dark place that he goes when his eyes close. It takes a minute, as he briefly gets distracted thinking about punching it in the face, before he gets a solid image of the bird flying. The more he thinks of it, the more he can feel something pulling him to the side, as his body instinctively wants to follow the feeling. As he does, he opens his eyes, and sees the bird ahead of him, flying in fear!
"AHA!"

"UUUUUUUGH."
Zephyr groans loudly as he gets up, rubbing the back of his head. Sure, the rest of him ached, but the fact his brother had smacked him with a weapon to put him out really pissed him off.
At least have the decency to fight with his fists.
As he rolls out of bed and walks out of his shitty little tent, he considers how Tempest had managed to win. It didn't matter that it had happened after another fight, what stuck out in Zephyr's mind was the speed at which his brother had delivered the final blow. There was something... off.
So speed was what he would fix, for himself.
For the first three hours, Zephyr alternates punches, trying to throw them at such a speed that it won't initially register to his eyes. When they finally become a blur, he does the same with his kicks, taking another four hours to get both legs moving at the required speed.
However, it wasn't enough to just do attacks. He needed to move his whole body like Tempest did.
Willing his energy to move him, it takes another six hours before he can move fast enough to see an afterimage where he previously was, just for a split second.
"No shitty brother of mine is going to be able to do something I can't."

Bam.
Bam.
BAM!
Today was training power day, and Zephyr has decided that the ground has been looking funny at him today. As such, he's currently slamming his fists downwards, slowly digging a hole into the soil that's getting deeper, and deeper, and deeper.
Bam. Bam. BAM!
He's well past his waist at this point, still just smacking the ground with his fists.
Bam. Bam. BAM!
There were so many who were just... asking to fight, but wouldn't outright say it. Zephyr couldn't understand that whatsoever. At least just be straightforward with it.
Bam. Bam. BAM!
BAM!
...thank Kami he didn't have to climb out of here.

He didn't get it.
No matter how many times he replayed the fight in his head, Zephyr doesn't understand what changed to make him not want to fight. Sure, he'd seen attractive women before, he'd even walked in on that one who wasn't clothed at the time, but that hadn't changed his mind on wanting to fight once he was there. It just delayed it until they were ready.
It was stupid. It was frustrating. It was starting to piss him off a little bit. It had to be a trick!
Standing up from his bed, Zephyr suddenly throws the furniture against the wall, smashing it into pieces before storming out the door.
He wouldn't get tricked again. There was going to be a fight, one way or another.

He may have... gotten lost... on his way back to where he'd encountered that woman.
The thought makes Zephyr grit his teeth angrily, and he looks around at the scenery, not recognizing any of it.
"How is this possible? I was JUST there!"
He puts his hands on his hips, looking back and forth. When faced with a decision like this, there was only one way to solve it.
He begins slamming his hands into the ground, forming a large clump. Then, with a yell, he throws it in the air, straight up... and watches....
And watches....
..until it finally falls to the ground, splitting apart. He looks around, checking where most of the rubble had landed, then nods in that direction.
"Alright. There we go."
Works every time.

It wasn't enough.
Sure, Zephyr's punches were strong, but none of them had the desired strength he wanted to potentially fight his father. Every time he had, he'd not even really left a scratch on the man, which meant he had to work harder in order to catch up.
He grits his teeth, then starts punching at the air, trying to work off his anger before continuing his day. His fists swing rapidly, rights and lefts, attacking from different angles, before he instinctually leaves an afterimage and shifts behind his perceived opponent, sending a powerful fist down at their head.
Zephyr pauses, looking at his hand.
"That felt right."

In a rare case of foresight, Zephyr considers the idea that he might have to attack someone at range.
Sure, his shockwave punches were generally useful and able to perform that task for him, but sooner or later, he might need to throw an energy attack in order to smackdown an escaping enemy who doesn't want to fight anymore. Which, in itself, was shameful.
"Okay. How hard can it be?"
Zephyr stretches his arms, then points at the ground.
"Boom."
...
Nothing happens.
He looks at his palm, frowns, then points again.
"Explode. Shoot. Something!"
He shakes his hand wildly, trying to get something to come out, before he starts punching the scenery in frustration. Minutes pass before he finally calms down enough to consider the idea again. Maybe he was doing it wrong?
...maybe it had to do with how he flew?
He closes his eyes while holding his hand out, trying to visualize those beams he'd seen other people throw around. It definitely seemed like it came from within, so if he just... focused on whatever was in him...
Ah. Like the bird. He can feel something inside him, flowing through him. Now he just had to push it out of his palm.
A silver beam erupts from his hand, scarring the ground in a wide trench before exploding in the distance, causing him to open his eyes.
"....huh."

Beams were easy apparently.
With that, however, he needed to continue focusing on his physical power. It was, after all, the easiest way to beat an enemy was to simply use your own two hands to pound them down. Hitting the ground was something he'd done before, and so, it wasn't going to really help him get much stronger.
Instead, he'd try something a little... further.
Staying firmly on the ground, Zephyr looks up at the clouds above. He slowly reaches back, then sends a hard punch upwards.
Then again.
Then again.
Without using the power of his gloves, he keeps swinging, harder and harder, until he can somewhat mimic the shockwaves that would normally occur. They might not have the same impact... but...
Another punch, and the cloud above him has a new hole in the middle.
It meant that up close, his punches would hurt even more.

"This is annoying."
For once, Zephyr was trying to train something other than pure strength. By filling his arms with rocks and chucking them into the air, he was able to work on both speed and accuracy by trying to punch each and every one before they fell to the ground.
However, the constant bending over to pick up more stupid little rocks and putting them all together so he could throw them was entirely too much work. It was boring, which was the worst thing of all. There had to be an easier way to do this.
Zephyr stands there, staring at one of the rocks on the ground. It'd be so much easier if it just... got up on its own.
...why couldn't it? He'd managed to shoot stuff out of his hand. Why not pull things into his hand?
He reaches out, then tries to pull it to him through sheer force of will.
"Come here."
.......
"Now."
.........
"GET OVER HERE NOW!"
The rock stays still, almost mockingly so. Zephyr goes to stomp on it, but stops himself at the last second. Just... just try again.
He closes his eyes, trying to work on using that feeling he had inside him and extending it towards the rock in order to pull it to him. His brow furrows in concentration and anger, but he suddenly feels something solid in his hand.
"There we go."

Once again, Zephyr is smashing rocks that are suspended around him.
It was a little easier than before, thanks to his new trick, as this time he didn't have to fight gravity. Instead, the rocks just lazily hung in the air before suddenly meeting an explosive end from one of Pain Killer's rapidly swinging limbs. It was pretty decent in giving him something solid to hit, rather than just swinging wildly into the air like he used to.
But... it was boring.
Zephyr gives a long sigh, and the few rocks that managed to survive his onslaught drop to the ground. Rocks didn't fight back, it wasn't any fun.
"I need to find someone to fight, and soon."
....
"What about that sword girl...?"
At least now he somewhat remembered what he was doing out in the middle of nowhere. With his newly rediscovered purpose, Zephyr turns to where he thinks he remembered fighting her, and heads in that direction.

It's been so long since he fought something, it was actually driving him crazy.
While his last fight hadn't ended with a winner as far as he was concerned, it was over far too quickly. Mostly due to the fact that it seemed all the women he had to deal with were magical in some way, and that was downright terrifying.
You can't punch magic.
....or can you?
This was actually a huge mental breakthrough for him. For so long, he'd lived in fear of the Guardian of Terrac's household, and anyone who had any semblance of magic whatsoever had made him uncomfortable at best. But what if he was strong enough to just... punch the magic away?
Then there'd be nothing to be worried about!
That meant he had to get stronger!
In the midst of his walking from place to place, Zephyr would suddenly break into a flurry of punches, swinging wildly as he forces his body to warm up. It was time to redouble his training.

"It's mine!"
"No, it's mine!"
The two men argue over the large, intricately designed rock, oblivious to the third who has started to head over due to the commotion. When he finally draws close, Zephyr stops a few feet away, waiting until they notice him before giving his simple greeting.
"Fight me."
The two wave him off dismissively.
"Get out of here, we're busy."
...he doesn't like that.
Zephyr goes to grab both of them, slamming their heads together before throwing them to the ground. He's already winding up for a good punching when they take off, running as fast as their legs will take them.
With a huff, Zephyr frowns. He hated fighting weaklings, especially ones that ran away. His eyes slowly turn to the large rock, and he picks it up, contemplating using it to judge which way to go next.
But... it feels kind of nice. Almost warm, even.
"...I guess it's mine."
He walks off with the dragon egg, happy to use it as his portable pillow from now on.

Okay.
Zephyr really likes his new rock.
The more he'd used it as a pillow, the more he noticed it wasn't quite the same as other rocks. If anything, it felt a bit lighter. Maybe not quite as hard, and it seemed to fit him pretty well. He'd actually taken to holding it at night, and it made him sleep better.
Which, of course, meant that when he woke up, he was full of energy, and ready to fight something.
Today was no different, and as he traveled the land he lived in, Zephyr would eventually come across one of the bull-like creatures that lived there. It wasn't unheard of for his people to eat them, since they basically ate anything, but killing one usually took a decent amount of technique. Zephyr, for better or for worse, had developed his own.
As the creature lowered its head and snorted, Zephyr did the same, bending down to bring himself to eye-level with the creature dozens of feet away. The aggression in the air was palpable, and as if through some unseen signal, both launched themselves at each other at full speed. At the very last second, Zephyr would shift slightly to the side to avoid the horns of the creature, not to avoid damage, but to ensure that his own headbutt would land flush against the bull.
The resulting impact devastates the creature, caving in its skull, while Zephyr bleeds from a new gash that's opened across his forehead. He stands there, dizzy from both the impact and victory, before smiling.
"Lunch is ready, Rock."

"So when you're hitting, you have to hit places that they don't want to be hit."
Zephyr says, miming punching someone near the stomach, then aiming for an imaginary opponent's head. He does it a few times, then turns to the side, speaking again.
"See? But that's also why they'll block it, or try to move out of the way. So sometimes, you need to hit where they expect it, because they're not expecting it."
He says, before punching again as if he's swinging for their chest.
"So the trick, Rock, is to punch where they're expecting, or not where they're expecting, got it?"
The rock sits there, silent and unmoving. Zephyr nods, hands on his hips, pleased with his teaching.
"If you had arms, you'd be a good fighter in no time."
