Hmm...
Perhaps there was some hope, yet. Or so she thought, as the Jinn made her leave and Dahveid started to speak, drawing her attention. The tip of her tail twitched, but slowly, idly.
Keerie turned her head towards him and looked down, automatically leaning in towards him a little bit.
"Hopefully longer than that, love. If their bond and the ties remain solid, and neither our King nor Aisuko and Okara change things, intentionally or not..."
She sighed and shifted, turning her legs towards his so she didn't have to twist.
"I am still somewhat uneasy, leaving this up to Aisuko."
They'd always done things for themselves, by themselves, after all. Having this hanging over Aisuko's shoulders and not her own made her feel...awkward. And rather helpless. Neither of which she liked, but, she was dealing with.

"As am I."
He smiled up at her, tail still curled around hers. He'd bring an arm around her back and sigh.
"But we are growing old, and it's a new generations turn to take the reigns. Whatever happens, it will be their war."
He would look up at her.
"Speaking of which....I spoke with the Dragon too. I wished to know who was causing our worlds to go to war. He referred to someone called "Demon", who is an agent of chaotic forces. The Demon King on Earth apparently knows more...so I figured I would ask if you will be coming with me that way."
He felt it important he give her the option.

Keerie smiled in turn. For all her husband's seriousness and seeming lack of emotions (just the display, she knew), he had the heart of a dreamer. The arm around her back heightened the radiating warmth she already felt and she slowly let out a breath, lifting a hand to brush across his forehead and along his jaw.
"Ah, love, if only...with our current strength, we will still be called upon. At least, until we are are too old to truly be of use, even in strategy."
Keerie tilted her head at word of his own request of the Dragon and hummed softly.
"Of course I am coming with. Would there be any doubt?"
Her lips parted in a slow show of teeth, amused, but, relaxed.

He chuckled.
"Of course- I merely meant it will be their war systemically. They will argue the specifics, they'll haggle over the terms, and they'll sign the declaration. We soldiers will simply be the tools used to resolve it. But I digress."
He gave her butt a gentle pat.
"I guess not. But I didn't want to speak for you, or assume."
He'd lean against her lightly.
"It's been too long since we've been able to rest."

She'd nodded at his return and let out another soft sigh.
"You know my place is at your side. I want it no other way, especially..." She trailed off. Especially after more than sixteen years.
She blinked in surprise and looked down as he leaned in, and curved the arm of the hand she'd just used to caress his face around her shoulders, and gently leaned her chin against his head.
Her eyes closed to slits.
"I know, love."

He nodded.
"Yeah. I know."
He sighed against her as she spoke, and would intend to stay like that for as long as possible.

For ten blissful minutes, Keerie would allow them to stay, her other hand lifting to slowly but continuously brush his jaw, and occasionally slip back to massage the nape of his neck.
After that, though, she gently cleared her throat and brushed her lips against his forehead.
"Come, Dahveid, let us go lie down and rest a little while. I have some salve, and it is far better than sitting here, no?"
Not that she figured he truly cared, too much, which was why she'd sat as she had and tried to give him the comfort he instilled in her. She didn't want him to stiffen up, though, especially considering he'd already spent several hours awkwardly sprawled on the chair as it was. So, she would gently guide him to the bed (or, if necessary, carry him) to allow him to stretch out and rest comfortably. Once there and with some extra salve smoothed over his burns, she slipped to lay down and gently eased his head back over her chest, allowing her heartbeat and fingers brushing through his hair and against his scalp to relax him again.

He'd mumble, standing/stumbling into the bedroom. Laying down, he'd yawn and stretch his body, wincing from the pain but letting out a low moan as she applied the salve once more.
"Mmn....thank you...."
He mumbled something else incoherently and, as she cuddled to him, drifted into a deep sleep.

Keerie quirked her head, attempting to decipher the mumble. But, unfortunately, not even her keen ears could pick it up. She lay there for the longest time, the repetitive motions of her hand lulling her into a tranquil, meditative state.
Quiet moments like this...made the harsher times of those sixteen years more bearable.
The blonde's blue eyes roved down to watch Dahveid. Slowly, she drifted to sleep as well.
