Whilst waiting for any word from home, Onyan had wandered off to quietly meditate. She sat on the ground, legs crossed and fingertips held together in an unsidedown triangle before her.
Slowly she'd gather her energy, focusing it at different points and refining her control.
Then she'd lift herself up, floating a few feet off the floor as she concentrated on just...holding herself there.
She'd always felt like her fine control over flight needed...refining. In general, she typically just launched herself and things worked out. Like a little missile.
What about stopping suddenly? Changing direction to avoid something coming your way unexpectedly? That's what she needed to work on.
After feeling rather content with how easily she could hold herself in place, Onyan would start flying into the forest, purposefully weaving in and out between trees. It began easily, but, certain turns had her brush up against the bark...
Unacceptable.
She continues, bumping into other trunks, crashing through small trees when some were hidden behind bigger ones...out of her view.
At some point, Onyan would crash into the ground, tumbling and rolling until she was laid on her back. She was thankful she'd gotten away from Maiz for a while. She didn't want to imagine the look on his face. Smug, probably. Or...infuriatingly nice about it, even. Who knows. Either way, mistakes could only be witnessed by her. She couldn't handle humiliation.
After a breath, Onyan would hop back to it.
For hours the outcome never seemed to be perfect...but eventually she'd manage a flawless run. Landing and breathless, Onyan would raise her arms up in triumph, hopping and giggling to herself in victory!
"Yes! YES I DID IT!" she'd giggle before noticing a wild animal watching her with wide eyes. Onyan would stare back.
It saw her celebrate something so small.
Her hand would raise and she'd blast the thing to hell.
"No witnesses." she'd mumble, her glee shrinking into a spiteful smirk.
It was time to head back. And she supposed this could serve as food.
