After the most recent wallop that was his training he found himself disheartened. The high of battle had worn off, and the thrill of his small, insignificant victory was slowly being crushed under the words of his peers. The simple undeniable knowledge that he wasn't as good as they were. And the question that continued to plague his mind was "are they right"?
Was he wasting his time trying to rise above his station? Was he just going to get himself, or someone else killed? Was striving to better himself and put himself into a position to serve his community selfish? It would be if his attempts truly hindered Namek. They were all parts of a collective whole, guided and directed by the Elder. But if a part of the whole was truly acting against the interests of the rest that would be a problem. No matter what the individual felt or thought.
But on the other hand he knew he was making progress. He could feel it! And he was stronger than he had been. He honestly didn't know if he even could go back to his old life. Which begged the question about what to do if he was dismissed, if it was determined that he was not fit to serve.
Such thoughts were troubling, and it was in times like these that he found himself climbing up one of the plateaus that overlooked the small village that he came from. His home, and a place that he wanted to protect. People that he wanted to serve. Even if he had his own selfish wants of better standing, of respect and admiration he had to wonder if that was really so bad?
Human's seemed to make it work after all.

The Guardian had been witness from his house to the training hat happened earlier. Limax was pitted against a very powerful natural warrior born from a Namekian and Human parentage. Both serving in the Alliance Military, both born and raised on Namek. The traditions were heavily grained in them and so was power. Limax seemed to be taking his defeat well, but he wondered if the guy's mind was as calm as his outer appearance.
Landing not far away from Limax, Sacossa would walk up quietly. Not sneaking, but he didn't want to break Limax's thought process or reflection looking over his village. A simple farming village that had almost never born a warrior. Usually having warriors from other villages come if needed.
"Too powerful to be just a regular farmer now, Limax."
He said in hopes of dissuading any thoughts of giving up or quitting.

He let out a small sigh at the new arrival and his words. It was a good question, was he too powerful to be a farmer now? Was power even a factor of something like that? Surely it wouldn't keep him from tenderly tending to crops. Power didn't mean that he couldn't laugh and watch over the children as the other adults in the village did.
"I'm not sure if that's it."
Or was it something more? Was it a more fundamental change in himself? Even though it hadn't been that long since he'd been just a farmer, the universe felt bigger now. Perhaps it was because he had already started to expand who he was, or maybe he was never really cut out to be a farmer. His willingness to attempt to buck his place in this world was surely evidence of that. However, by that same token the ease in which he had been swatted down could be argued as evidence that everyone really did have their place, and his was not here.

Sacossa would nod, then it was a mix, or feelings he'd never had before. Some rationality he couldn't completely come to terms with possibly. He knew those feelings, being the newest Guardian after the previous was killed in a freak attack from other planets Guardians he had a lot to deal with.
"Breaking a natural order, something you are born with and into... Can leave you over whelmed when you come to terms with what you are really doing. A new sense of freedom, infinite choices displayed before you beyond whatever current goal you have. Warrior Limax, Elder Limax, Soldier Limax, the list goes on. Maybe it's that you have a slight... Fear of the end result of what you may accomplish?"

He remained silent, contemplating The Guardian's words. Hearing his name being accompanied with titles such as Warrior, Elder, and Soldier sent his heart fluttering. To actually hear those words associated with him, even if it was all hypothetical was odd. He'd never even considered some of it. Could he one day be an Elder?
No, that was absurd.
"I've never thought of it that way." Maybe he was afraid. "May I ask you a question Guardian?" He asked, turning around to face the Guardian, offering him a bow of respect due to their differing stations.

Sacossa would barely react when Limax turned towards him. He turned as well, nodding in return to the bow returning the respect he received. Maybe Limax needed more time to think over his next few choices beyond attempting to finish warrior training.
"Go ahead."
He wondered at this question.

"How do you feel about being The Guardian?"
It was something that he was basically born into. Chosen from birth, and set upon the path by destiny. Sacossa had a privileged position of honor and respect, but it was one bestowed upon him. Limax wondered if he was satisfied with his position in life.
On one hand it was hard to imaging that he wouldn't be. It was one of the highest positions in their society, he was something that others aspired to be, a model to all Namekian. Likely the future Elder one day. And yet, it was a path that he didn't choose, could he also be a victim of the Caste system?
Could members of higher Castes even be a victim of the system?

"It is an honor, that much is certain..."
Sacossa would turn to look at the village, then turn to look at Limax again.
"The time I have spent talking with the other Guardians of other planets. Like Earths Guardian, Vo Lang. Earth doesn't even know he exists, he is free to travel, even to other planets and mingle to learn about things across the galaxy. I wouldn't mind doing that as well, if I'm honest."

He was taken aback by that. Not the revelation that Sacossa would like the opportunity to travel, but that Earth's guardian was not only free to travel the universe, but that he was unknown on his planet. To think that a planet would not even offer thanks or respect to their guardian. To think that they would remain ignorant of his existence all together even!
It was a lot to take in, and to hear it mentioned so casually, he wondered how many other guardians were like that. How different they were from his own people. And he wondered how the Guardian of Earth felt about his situation.
"Would you give up your position and duties to obtain that freedom?"
Because that's what it would be. If Vo Lang left his planet to go explore and mingle, then he was not protecting his planet. It was an abandonment of his duty, and that was not something to be admired.

Sacossa would ponder the question, at least for a few moments.
"... No. If leaving the planet to discover some plot and end it before it became an issue was a task that needed completing... That is the only way. As it stands however, my position is reactive, not proactive."
Sacossa affirmed his current position, as much as he would like to, Planet Namek was his duty.

He nodded along with the answer. He wasn't sure if it was the answer that he really wanted to hear. But he did know it was the correct answer. Even if it didn't do much to enlighten his own position. However, this was a warrior who had the courage to do his duty despite having desires to do otherwise.
Was that what Limax was doing? Was becoming the best Warrior he could be to defend Namek his actual duty? Or is his duty to remain where he was born and tend to the soil? Was it responsibility or recklessness that drove him to change his fate?

Sacossa would sigh and fold his arms.
"Don't ponder it too hard, Limax. Focus on the task at hand. Become a great warrior. Your duty will find you after that."
Sacossa really believed that. With the death of the previous Guardian launching him into this position before his training was finished he felt unprepared and over whelmed. Vo Lang told him what he just told Limax and it helped him keep calm through everything so far.

"I will endeavor to do that."
A task easier said than done, but it seemed that The Guardian supported his attempt to rise above his station. That was encouraging in it's own way. He was right though, pondering what he should do wouldn't move him forward in either direction, and while there was a time and place for reflection. He was letting it paralyze him.
"Thank you for your words Guardian."

"Well I'm going to move on. If you are ever in a time of need, visit my home. We will perform the ritual to unleash your true potential."
Sacossa would give a wave and take off.

He bowed as the Guardian left him with a gift of an offer. To be offered the ritual was an honor, but one that he felt he was unworthy of up to this point. Perhaps in time he would accept such a gift, but for his own sake he needed to prove to himself that he was strong enough to make it on his own. Even if it was his own potential being unlocked, it would not be through his own efforts.
And if he was to prove to himself and the others that he truly belonged among their ranks he needed to achieve that strength on his own. To do anything less would only prove them correct, that status and powered was something bestowed, whether by birth or the grace of the Guardian and Elder.
He would not lose that easily.
