"And so, your physical stature can definitely help." Rain would say, swinging her sword in order to cut through a stick.
"But note the accuracy...the speed. Even someone weaker can strive if they can understand movement. Understand the redirection of power."
Rain would nod to a fellow clan member who was at least twice her size, and, as she swung with ferocity, Rain would meet her steal and redirect the sword before taking a second swing and stopping at the woman's neck.
"Like so."
There'd be groans from her younger sisters who considered that extra layer of learning to be a pain.
Becoming stronger than someone and overpowering them sounded way easier.
Rain would laugh and nod. If that was their preference, so be it.
She dismissed them, knowing her methods weren't often preferred. Dancing around, not always meeting head to head. It wasn't like she couldn't. In fact, she reveled in a good brawl. But the sense of freedom she felt in elegance was...there just were no words. If they saw her as a annoying for her methods, so be it. It could be amusing either way.
Left alone, Rain would begin moving and slashing as she continued to train. Her focus would move to her speed, trying to cut down target after target as fast as she could. So fast, following it with a regular sight would be hard to follow. As she continued to practice again and again, it would be her entire body that seemed to become a blur...like a ghost left behind as she went from one point to another.
She'd pant as she stopped, brushing her hair behind her ear as she turned to watch all the targets fall to the ground almost all at once.

It was another quiet day in her territory. After the daily duties were taken care of, Rain would slip away to quietly meditate on her own.
Sitting on her knees, sword sat across her lap, Rain would start her breathing exercises, controlling her breath as it came in and out of her. She focused on letting her body relax completely while enhancing her other senses. She could hear clearly...she could feel the wind, the brush of the grass and her long strands of hair. She knew where she was, and for the most part, she knew where everything else was.
At least as far as hearing them, went.
She lacked a certain sight...the kind that allowed you to sense others. Their energy. If she could do that, it would bring her clan advantages and foresight about those coming to attack them.
Rain continued to keep loose and calm, hearing the chirping of a bird, and noting relatively where it should be. From there, she tried to see without sight. She tried to focus on picking up a reading on its energy...or life force or whatever you want to call it.
After continuing her efforts in the correct direction, Rain would be able to sense it. Its tiny power level...with her eyes closed, she felt as though she could see its energy glowing from afar...tracing its body. Maybe it was just her mind creating a visual. In any case, there it was.
She'd slowly open her eyes and smile, taking the time to sense towards her clan. She could recognize the different powers, she thought. As though she had some intuition about who felt like what. It was probably familiarity and the fact she probably could sense them all along, but never quite fully.
"We're strong." she reminded herself.
So long as loss meant being separated from her sisters, Rain would never allow herself to lose.

Rain had realized one tedious thing about her sword. If it was launched or knocked out of her hand, she'd have to go fetch it. Depending on where it lands, that could be pretty inconvenient. What would fix that? An ability to...recall it.
Tossing her sword a distance away, Rain would start to practice trying to send an energy or force towards her sword and try to grab hold of it.
It took a long time before she ever reached the sword. First, she reached some grass and ended up doing more of a pulse to shove them away. Oops. While also a useful skill, that was not the goal, here. Last thing she wants is to try and bring the sword to herself and launch it at someone else instead.
There was a lot of trial and error involved, but finally she'd be able to reach the sword, watching it vibrate from the grasp and hum. Carefully, she tried to pull it towards her.
Once again, she made an error. The sword did come, but it was coming at her point-first. Tilting her head to the side with wide eyes, the sword would slice her cheek before stabbing into a tree. She'd slowly touch her face and look at her blood covered finger tips before sighing.
"It wouldn't be very honourable if I died from training." she'd chuckle.
Brushing her hair behind her ear, Rain would reach out to the sword again, more specifically reaching for the hilt. The sword would vibrate again as it was being slowly dislodged from the tree before it would go flying towards her again. This time she could catch the hilt, her arm flying back a bit from the force.
Not a perfect success but one nonetheless.
"I'll need to de a few more practice rounds before I start doing this." she'd laugh.
Her mind, however, was already thinking of all the interesting ways she could use this new skill....

Controlling her sword with an invisible force had been a great skill. Could it perhaps be better, though? In some ways, it felt like using it offensively lacked some power.
She wanted to rectify that.
Rain would lift her sword from a distance away, then start spinning it faster and faster in it's spot.
The task took a lot more will than she expected, but, she persisted until her nose began to bleed. Losing her concentration, the sword would go flying off and Rain would bring a hand to her face.
"It's probably better to space out how I use it." she'd murmur to herself, looking out for where her sword had gone. It was lodged in the ground a bit further away, thankfully.
She'd carefully approach it, taking a moment to meditate and calm her mind before deciding to attempt it again.
Once she felt better, she'd grasp at her sword and fling it out into the distance before reaching her hand out to grasp at it with her mind. She'd make it spin again, then focused on making it rotate around her at a safe distance. After a moment she'd have it come back to her, catching the hilt in her palm.
And sighing.
"That...felt stronger." she'd admit.
At the very least as strong as when she swung it herself.
Much better.

Rain had no real learning goals today. She set out to the training grounds of her clan where she stretched and warmed up a bit in preparation for some casual training. It was imperative that she keep her skills sharp, both to keep worthy of her clan as well as not fall behind.
She had placed bags of hay on various vital spots on the target dummies, wanting something real to strike despite often practicing against air. Doing the motions was fine, but striking something real was preferred this time.
Rain would step back, placing her hand on the hilt of her sword before she slowly exhaled. Then, as quickly as she could, she would slice off the head of one dummy. With a twirl, she'd slice through the torso of another before kicking off of it to stab into the head of the third. She'd yank back, grimacing at the effort it took to do so.
She enjoyed being light, but, perhaps it would be beneficial to concern herself with more physical strength as well. She could work around being weaker for the most part...she didn't want it to leave her in a sticky situation however.
Very well. Next time, she'd leave the sword and go back to her roots.
Rain would continue to cut down the rest of her targets, sheathing her sword and glancing around at the mess.
Timing wise, she was content.

Like she promised herself, today Rain would focus on her strength.
Dancing around your opponent could only get you so far...and like it or not she was still Rhosian. Hand to hand combat was still a thrill. It would be far more thrilling if she wasn't consistently outmatched in size.
She had only a chest wrap and her pants on, happy to feel the earth and grass between her toes. With a solid stance, she'd begin with holding a heavy boulder as she did squats. She made a clan member sit on her back as she did push-ups...then moved onto using only one hand.
Later, she found the largest member of moth and continuously tried to best them in feats of strength...like arm wrestling and tug-o-war.
She didn't win, but, at the start she wasn't totally being overwhelmed.
Of course a day of this would not be enough. She would consider more such activities in the days following...

Taking a break from facing off against others, Rain thought about how a burst forward could increase her damage. Or at least give her an advantage, in the right conditions.
She knew a bit about calling forth her energy since she used it for some of her abilities. If she applied it a bit differently...in a different place, even, she could likely do something akin to flying forth. Like a lil rocket.
She powered herself up first, feeling the flow of energy.
If she was going to use it for attacks, she usually pushed it to her arms and hands.
Towards her feet however, she could perhaps propel herself.
And so she did. The first few attempts were closer to super jumps. The acceleration took some time to get used to as well. She tripped and tumbled a few times, but, she kept at it. Nope that's a super jump. Okay...more of a long jump this time.
Finally she burst forward in a straight line. Alarmed that she got it, Rain twirled a bit and noticed she was able to sustain it. Like she was just kinda...floating above the ground.
Actually...that was exactly what she was doing.
"Huh. Can I go higher, then?" she wondered, turning her trajectory upwards.
Yes. Yes she could.
After a moment up above some trees, a chill ran through her spine.
She's...afraid of heights.
She quickly goes back down.

There were clashing sounds as sword met sword. Rain decided to train with her younger sister, the two mostly going through steps like a dance.
Once their warm-up was done, the two girls would clash more fiercely, though admittedly Rain's sister was a bit weaker. It didn't much matter as the younger girl was swift and just as good at redirecting as her older sister was. Rain was playing a bit more strength based than usual, but, in a way both girls were practicing skills they felt they needed to work on.
For the most part the two seemed evenly matched, but the victory would eventually become Rain's...only through experience.
"You've gotten trickier." Rain would chuckle as her sister picked herself off the ground.
"You've gotten less nice about hitting me."
"I've...had some motivation." Rain would admit. "I can't be happy where I am. I have to get better."
"Why? Cause that stupid boy keeps coming back here?" she'd snort.
Rain would just smile then shrugs.
"Maybe."

It had come to her attention that...injuries didn't seem as devastating for her, lately. In fact, they seemed to disappear in almost a blink.
"I could have sworn I had more bruises." she'd mumble to herself, glancing at herself in the reflection of the pond.
She hadn't been dodging EVERYTHING.
As she stared at one of her more recent cuts, it seemed to slowly disappear before her eyes.
Was she...imagining it?
Sitting down, Rain would grab her blade before slicing a fine line in her palm. Immediately it started to bleed, but as she watched, the bleeding slowed and slowed until it seemed like her skin closed up before her eyes. While it wasn't instant, it was still fast enough to make her blink in surprise.
An advantage to be sure...
She'd chuckle to herself nervously, deciding she needed to test the limits of how many cuts she could endure. After taking a breath, Rain would systematically slice at her own body, creating cut after cut, unable to keep from grunting and yelping in pain at some of them.
Eventually, it became too much, the torturous and constant sensation causing her to faint.
When she awoke...it was like it never happened.
"I shouldn't...continue to test my limit today. But...I want to see how much further this goes..."

Life continued as usual. She'd heard rumours that a being from another planet had come again. With no trouble arising, Rain decided not to seek them out just yet.
With that in mind she continued to push herself, training in her usual manner for lack of...inspiration. Without running into too many issues, she wasn't sure where to improve short of building more strength. That man who always came by was stronger in a manner that made her uncomfortable.
And so Rain worked on her endurance, shoveling within a nearby mine in order to collect some ore. She hadn't forgotten her interest in blacksmithing...and gathering materials may be a good first step.
She dug and dug and dug all day, finding very little for all her work. In a way, it motivated her to continue. Surely she'd find more if she dug just a bit deeper.
Time rolled on, and eventually she could no longer fight her exhaustion. She had few ores to brag about...but managed to get...SOME. None she could even personally identify.
"A teacher, then." she decided.
Once she was rested...her new goal would be to seek someone to teach her about ores...and how to turn them into tools and weapons.
Maybe...how to find them better, too.

So much catching up to dooooo. Not that she knows.
But I know.
In order to find a teacher, the BEST teacher, Rain decided she might have to travel out of her clan. She'd received intel that to make the sword of her dreams she would have to leave the planet...which was a very daunting quest. One she'd leave until another time.
There was still much to do!
In order to convince a blacksmith from a clan they ideally had some level of truce with, Rain would have to have a gift prepared. She was ready to prove herself in combat as well, but, it was polite to at least have some form of gift.
As she traveled, she came upon a large bear-like creature. Meat, pelt, bones. While not luxurious, it was useful. Hopefully it would do as a gift.
Rain would brace herself, the creature taking a swipe at her horizontally and prompting her to jump over the attack. Using her glove she'd fire a hard punch to push the creature back a bit, the beast taking a few steps back in order to try and keep its balance on two feet. While it tried to regain it's composure, Rain would grab a stick and fire an energy slash at it!
"Majinken!"
It would slice the beasts left leg, making it fully lose it's balance. Nimbly running across its body to reach its head, Rain would send a flurry of slashes to disorient the creature before ending its life with a precise jab of the stick through it eye and up towards its brain.
When the creature stopped moving, she'd observe that she hadn't caused too much damage to it before hoisting the much larger creature over her shoulder with a sigh.
"It'll have to do."

"You want us to WHAT?" her middle sister would ask; she and the youngest holding their sword as Rain was tying ropes to her wrists.
"Cut me apart."
"Are you insane?!" the middle sister would practically interrupt.
"A bit, I suppose." Rain would laugh, motioning her youngest forward to help tie her arms up to a pole so she'd be stuck in a (threatening) T pose.
"Why tie you up, though...?" the youngest would ask.
"I...don't promise I wouldn't have second thoughts in the heat of it." Rain admitted. "Losing limbs is a pain I haven't experienced, but naturally fear. This way I can't fight back or dodge. If I'm to use this ability to its full potential, I'd rather get through the initial shock of it somewhere...safe."
"You're actually insane." the middle would shake her head. "But that's a fair point."
Rain would smile, and you wouldn't know she was feeling nervous.
"Start with my legs and work your way up! This is good for you! It'll help desensitize you to the gore and if I'm ever torn apart, it won't be the first time you see it~!"
"ENOUGH!" her middle sister would grimace.
"Don't try and spin it like that..." her youngest would sigh.
"I'm ready." Rain would give a small shrug.
After some hesitation, Rain put her sisters through the traumatic process of cutting her apart. Her sisters, on the other hand, put her through the traumatic process of GETTING cut apart.
Hours later, once Rain is regenerated fully, she and her sisters sit in silence, pale, as they don't talk about what transpired.
Until the middle sister utters
"This was the worst idea you've ever had."
They all silently agree.

After trauma really brought her closer to her sisters, Rain would briefly leave the territory into an area she believed was still unclaimed.
She wasn't trying to catch the attention of anyone...she just needed some time away and to herself.
In order to move forward with her goal...she'd have to leave Terrac. How was she meant to do such a thing? Even briefly...even if it wasn't completely insane to go to space.
With a sigh, she sat in a clearing, gazing up at the night sky. From here, it didn't seem so terrifying. Rather pretty, actually. What was it they were meant to fear out there? It wasn't like it was unheard of for one of them to go. They never died or exploded or faded into nothing from going.
"I'm already unusual." she'd chuckle to herself. "Maybe I'm in the wrong clan."
A joke, mostly.
She'd grab a rock, tie it to a sturdy stick with some grass vines, then find another rock to start hammering down onto it. Over and over and over until her arm would become numb.
She'd make her goal happen. Better get used to the motions before then.

It was time.
Through gathered information, and much warning not to go, Rain was pointed in the direction of the Laughing Dog clan. If there was to be a place where she could find a way to Myria it was here. But it wasn't...a good place.
It didn't deter her. As far as she was concerned, no one would be prepared for the sort of person she'd become.
Packing her things and saying goodbye to her sisters and clanmates, Rain set off on her long journey. She'd had to dispatch a few vagabonds here and there, but they were running on little else than desperation. When you're clanless, it can be hard to survive on your own. The reliability of a safe place to sleep and eat was no longer a luxury.
It wasn't until she'd reached mid-way that she ran into someone she sensed actually posed an issue. Whoever they were, they spoke little. The man pointed at her, issuing a silent challenge, and Rain obliged.
The fight was fairly even for the most part. Rain sustained some damage, was able to inflict some of her own. Her healing gave her an edge up until the warrior grew wise to it. It would seem he would have to cut her down much more quickly. A pity as he preferred to savour the fight.
He would be able to catch her offguard, slicing her in half at the waist. Ran's eyes would go wide at her voice would catch in her throat. All she could manage was some grunts and coughs before laying still.
The victor approached her, ready to finish the job completely only to suddenly have Rain's sword thrust in his throat. Confused, he fell to his knees before Rain smiled a bloody smile at him.
"Tricked you."
Though she'd won...it put her back in her travels. Now she needed to wait and heal.
Sigh.

Regenerating, turns out, was very boring. Especially on the road. The only other person here was dead, if you didn't count her bottom half as a separate entity at this point.
She could feel her wounds sealing up...but forming a new pair of legs was going to take a while yet so this was a great opportunity to get a work out in and still make some progress on the way!
Crawling.
For the next few hours while the rest of her was slowly coming back, Rain just crawled about with her arms, torso dragging behind her. Luckily her insides had been regenerated and mostly sealed back into her so she wasn't just dragging that crap behind her.
Actually without legs to drag as well she was much lighter than usual.
The occasional person would happen upon her, but, stayed away. Nothing good would come from approaching a crawling torso. She'd either expire on her own or she was some kinda cursed thing..especially with that pleasant smile she had on. Just as well.
